Job Information

GKN Automotive Benefits Specialist, Hybrid Role (NC or MI) in Sanford, North Carolina

Work Schedule and Location : Hybrid - two days per week remote. Ideal candidate based within commuting distance to Auburn Hills, Michigan or Newton or Alamance, North Carolina

Reports to : Benefits & Retirement Manager

Key Responsibilities:

In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal laws regarding pension and 401(k) plan administration, health and wellness, retiree medical, flexible benefit plan administration, life insurance, STD, LTD, Medicare, and Cobra.

Assist in coordination of annual open enrollment, including benefit renewal processes, in partnership with benefit broker and vendors, to ensure benefit programs align with GKN culture and remain competitive in local labor markets.

Work with broker and vendors to prepare annual enrollment and orientation materials. Lead other employee benefit communication campaigns. Maintain US Benefits SharePoint site for employees.

Coordinate with broker, vendors, and legal to complete all required annual audits, testing, and filings, including 5500s, pension plan valuations, non-discrimination testing and ACA reporting.

Coordinate with vendors to complete distribution of required annual notices.

Complete annual benefits benchmarking surveys.

Resolve employee inquiries and concerns in coordination with benefits vendors and HR teams.

Monitor monthly 401k default reports.

Coordinate HIPAA training and maintain HR access to required vendor systems.

Work closely with financial benefits analyst to reconcile carrier bills to ensure accuracy and timely payment processing.

Ensure integrity of employee data in vendor’s systems and coordinates corrections to out of sync data.

Partner with payroll department and HRIS team to troubleshoot benefit related issues in ADP as well as census/indicative file data for vendors. Monitor success of daily files and direct changes and testing of file, as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

6+ years of related professional experience in benefits administration

Strong customer service skills with a focus on employee education

Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional group of partners, both internal and external

Proven capability to independently manage projects, including communications, and change management.

Ability to adapt and drive improvements and continuously simplify processes with compliance in mind.

Expertise in Oracle HCM, ADP EV6 or GlobalView, and Excel for reporting and auditing purposes

Must be fluent in English.

Must be able to work and travel independently.
