Your Impactful Role

As a Patient Care Technician, your role holds significant importance in contributing to the well-being of patients. Your primary responsibility is to provide direct patient care activities, services, and procedures that support patients in achieving their best possible health. Your impact is seen in the enhancement of both the physical and emotional well-being of the individuals under your care, as well as addressing their personal comfort needs.

  • Patient Admission and Support:

  • Welcome patients with a friendly smile and guide them through the admission process.

  • Perform necessary tests like HcG and blood glucose checks, making accurate records.

  • Measure and document vital signs with precision and care.

  • Assistance to Medical Staff:

  • Be a helpful hand to Pre-Op, OR, and PACU RN as directed.

  • Get familiar with normal ranges of vital signs and blood glucose levels, and quickly inform the RN of any abnormalities.

  • Patient Comfort and Support:

  • Assist patients in moving around and lend a helping hand with wheelchair transport when needed.

  • Attend to their physical comfort and emotional well-being, tailored to their unique needs.

  • Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow established protocols for the safe disposal of biohazardous materials.

  • Show proficiency in equipment usage and strictly adhere to POSC procedures, policies, and standards.

  • Training and Maintenance:

  • Take pride in training new employees in designated areas, sharing your knowledge and expertise.

  • Stay up-to-date and maintain proficiency in assigned Special Assignments.

  • Flexibility:

  • Embrace a can-do attitude and be open to fulfilling any other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications 

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. 

  • Previous CNA experience. 

  • BLS certification required. 

  • This position requires involvement in the preparation of State and AAAHC Surveys.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions: In this role, you'll experience the rigorous yet rewarding physical demands of the job. You can expect to stand, walk, talk, and hear during your shifts. There may be occasions when you're on your feet for extended periods, involving tasks such as pushing, pulling, or moving patients on stretchers. Your work environment may expose you to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. You'll need to move all extremities within the full range of motion and perform stooping and bending at 90 degrees. Regularly, you'll lift and move objects up to 20 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision. The surgical arena features a moderate noise level, creating a professional and supportive atmosphere dedicated to patient care and your professional development.
