Position Specific Description

Join the world’s leading generator of solar energy as a Solar PV Technician at NextEra Energy. As a Solar PV Technician you will be the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all solar farm operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance, diagnostics, as well as long-term reliability and profitability. Additional duties may include:

  • Implementing Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conducting field work in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) applicable regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture

  • Participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects

  • Recruiting and developing other technicians for the ongoing development of team

  • Supporting site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and turbine availability

  • Collaborating closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance

  • Presenting a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with the customer

Job Overview

Employees in this role are responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar generation equipment on multiple solar power plants to achieve safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. Successful candidates apply a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components and equipment to include the use of digital multi-meters, meggers, and amp clamps.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains all tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition

  • Provides inspection of watch, electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting for a solar field and battery energy storage equipment

  • Performs switching and grounding of medium and high voltage equipment

  • Ensures daily inspection for cooling system discrepancies, mechanical component breakage, and electrical component failures preventing site equipment from operating as designed are performed

  • Travel to other sites will be required

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED

  • Experience: 2+ years

  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Equivalent Experience

  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
