The Business Unit Leader/Director will be responsible for leading manufacturing, maintenance, projects, and base business engineering personnel within the Biosurgery manufacturing operations in Puerto Rico. The main responsibility is to optimize supply chain performance, consistently meet customer expectations and manage the manufacturing operations and projects for Biosurgery. This role is part of the Surgery Puerto Rico Leadership Team and the Global End to End Biosurgery Leadership Team .

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver supply reliability through Product Value Stream Management and End-to-End process improvements in partnership with the ORC VSL while ensuring proactive approach to quality, safety and compliance.

  • Reduce complexity and drive significant improvement in the predictable, reliable supply of quality products that meet / exceed customer expectations.

  • Empowering and Inspiring Employees: Create a workplace where all employees feel valued and are provided opportunities for growth.

  • Develop and implement a strategy to drive continuous improvement of manufacturing while also ensuring capacity, agility, and flexibility to support development and manufacture of new products and technologies.

  • Lead the Biosurgery manufacturing, maintenance, projects and base business engineering operations and activities.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve all operational goals, including but not limited to safety, quality, service, cost, and people leadership goals.

  • Identify and implement both short and long-term projects to optimize the local supply chain, product, and process quality and to improve operational efficiencies.

  • Effectively manage and resource human, material, and capital resources to meet quality, customer service, financial, EH&S, and product and process improvement targets.

  • Ensure close collaboration with Quality Operations so that the Quality System is regularly audited/ reviewed, and that appropriate preventive and corrective actions are identified and implemented to improve quality results.

  • Develop and implement a talent strategy that ensures a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment and ensures development opportunities are provided for all employees.

  • Provides variance analysis and corrective actions.

  • Provides and establishes leadership climate for operations within business unit towards continue quality improvements and compliance with regulatory requirements as they apply to all business aspects.

  • Manages operation to ensure achievement of CIP and OGSM initiatives.

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required. Bachelors Degree Engineering or Science concentration is preferred. Masters degree desirable.

  • A minimum 10 years of experience in a Supply Chain environment is required.

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in the following functional areas: manufacturing, engineering, planning, distribution and/or quality is required.

  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience is required.

  • Ability to drive innovation, prioritize and collaborate in a heavily matrixed environment.

  • Ability to influence and gain cross-functional support to deliver strategy.

  • Understanding of manufacturing shop floor and related computer systems.

  • Strong analytical problem solving and interpersonal skills ability.

  • Leadership and Negotiating skills.

  • Associate relations capabilities.

  • Technology management.

  • Financial variance analysis.

  • Customer-focused decision making.

  • 10% travel required, must be able to travel between Ethicon Locations (Manati and San Lorenzo) and other locations as required by the business.
