Are you a transitioning military service member or a Military Spouse looking for an internship that supports the goal to put health first?

The Care Management Registered Nurse, RN, Intern will utilize Humana's training and mentorships and engage formerly acquired skillsets to work with Humana Medicaid's member population. If you are interested in this position, you will be required to confirm eligibility to participate in the Department of Defense SkillBridge Internship or Hiring our Heroes Military Spouse Fellowship.

The Care Manager, Registered Nurse, RN, Intern will utilize Humana's Medicaid training and engage formerly acquired skillsets to assess and evaluate members' needs and determine necessities to achieve and/or maintain optimal wellness. Work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

  • The Care Manager, Telephonic Nurse 2 employs a variety of strategies, approaches and techniques to manage a member's physical, environmental and psycho-social health issues with adult and/or pediatric population.

  • Identifies and resolves barriers that hinder effective care.

  • Ensures patient is progressing towards desired outcomes by continuously monitoring patient care through assessments and/or evaluations.

  • May create member care plans.

  • Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.

  • Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.

  • Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Transitioning Service Member eligible to participate in SkillBridge or military spouse eligible to participate in the military spouse fellowship

  • Active unrestricted Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of residence or compact (eNLC) state license without disciplinary action

  • Clinical acute care experience in hospital floor, skilled, or rehabilitation setting

  • Comprehensive knowledge using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, navigating multiple systems and platforms and ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic technical difficulties in a remote environment.

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

  • Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess an interest in working in the managed care industry

  • Experience with case management, discharge planning and patient education for adult acute care

  • Certified Case Manager (CCM)

  • Experience with intellectual function and adaptive behavior limitation population

  • Live in the state of Florida

Additional Information

The DOD SkillBridge Internship Program provides an opportunity for transitioning military service members to gain civilian work experience with an employer for a period between 90 and 180 days upon approval.

The Military Spouse Fellowship Program connects military spouses with employers offering a variety of professional onsite, field, or remote based opportunities.

  • Networking opportunities will be provided while participating in the Internship or Fellowship.

  • Due to factors such as location, and/or requirements that cannot be modified, full-time employment is not guaranteed upon completion of the Internship or Fellowship.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$31,200 - $85,100 per year
