Siemens Global Business Services is looking for a Commercial Project Manager to join our Project Services team which covers a diverse portfolio of projects including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Finance, Digitalization, Tool Implementations, Service Transformations, and more in the Americas.

You will exhibit the ability support the completion of all commercial/financial related matters of the customer projects (Category C). Furthermore, supporting the respective Project Manager/ Bid Manager in all other areas with the objective of preparing the bid/ executing the project according to the defined Project Management (PM) standards, customer requirements and the applicable Financial Reporting Guidelines (FRG). A professional collaboration between the CPM and the Project Manager/ Bid Manager is key for the overall project success.

We are looking for a Commercial Project Manager that will sit remotely in Mexico and support commercial projects across the Americas.

Position Overview

This position has responsibility for project controlling for commercial projects. The commercial project manager works closely with project management in managing the commercial terms of the contract and project.

What you will be doing

  • Reviewing, interpreting, and monitoring of contract proposals from a financial perspective.

  • Being the financial partner for project managers.

  • Providing financial oversight of P&L and BS as it relates to projects.

  • Establishing and maintaining accurate project budgetary and forecast data to maximize business results and efficient project delivery & operations.

  • Providing solutions to complex financial / commercial problems to drive financial performance for achievement of company goals.

  • Supporting the annual budget and monthly forecast process.

  • Supporting utilization and staffing forecast process to ensure linkage to all necessary financial processes and models.

  • Facilitation of closing activities as it relates to projects.

  • Ensuring accuracy of billings / revenue as part of the monthly close process and the completion of the monthly close / reporting process.

  • Setting up and closely monitor revenue recognition: actual vs plan, degree of completion, cost to complete, total forecasted costs vs planned. Ensure full compliance of revenue and cost recognition with Siemens accounting policies under US-GAAP / IFRS, as well as overall compliance with internal controls, like export control, signature authorities.

  • Supporting the Project Manager in identifying, evaluating, and assessing risks & opportunities, strategies, and response activities. Constantly assess risks& opportunities and their impact either in the risk register and/or in the gross margin while proposing measures to prevent negative margin slippage due to risks that could have been avoided.

  • Implementing and driving measures together with the Project Manager to leverage opportunities to improve the project performance, e.g., through claims and variation management. Support Project Manager to ensure Project Quality based on Siemens guidelines and achievement of project goals.

  • Ensuring consistent terms and conditions with suppliers/subcontractors in line with the end-customer contract.

  • Coordinating other contractual requirements (e.g., performance guarantees, insurances, taxes, sureties) to achieve contract commitments.

  • Actively communicating with customers’ commercial representatives and manage resolution of commercial issues.

  • Prepare project order intake calculations, setup and maintain project baseline budget with aligned work breakdown structure (WBS)

  • Ensure timely collection of customer payments.

  • Support internal & external project audits as required, and perform project close out activities.

  • Involved in month and close activities - prepare cost accruals/provisions, ensure revenue and profit declarations are properly recognized.

What it takes

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.

  • You have at least 2 years’ experience in commercial project handling. PM@Siemens certification preferred; but not required.

  • Command of spoken and written English language

  • Demonstrates significant knowledge of organizations business practices / issues and drives the problem solving and resolution of those issues.

  • Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices.

  • Displays a high level of critical thinking.

  • Strong teaming capabilities as well as self-operating

  • Proven experience supporting contract / bid process from a financial perspective.

  • Strong communication, presentation, written and oral skills.

  • Has advanced knowledge and experience with integrated financial systems.

  • Has good working knowledge of PM@Siemens methodology and related tools.
