We are seeking a highly skilled Automation and Verification Engineer to join our dynamic team, driving robustness of hardware, software, firmware, and algorithms into systems that shape the future of medical science.

POSITION SUMMARY

Our mission is to help fight sepsis by providing a rapid Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing solution. The primary purpose of this position is to develop image processing related tools and algorithms to perform signal analysis and classification. The work product will be used internally as well as in production, in the medical device space.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Design, analyze, implement, optimize, simulate, test, debug, maintain and document new and existing image processing software.

  • Follow internal software development processes for medical devices, e.g. ISO 12207, IEC 62304.

  • Follow design control processes for medical devices compliant to ISO 13485 and 21CFR820.30

  • Follow internal agile processes in software development, e.g. compliant to TIR 45.

  • Actively support unit and functional testing and participate in any required code refactoring.

  • Actively support verification and validation efforts.

  • Research new and existing algorithms and technologies and collect data to support design choices.

  • Assist in imaging HW design and investigations.

    KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

    Education and Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics with 7+ years’ experience required, OR

  • MS or PhD. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics with 5+ years’ experience (or equivalent) required

  • Python/OpenCV/Python image processing fluency required, with attention to coding standards (e. g. PEP8).

  • 5+ years’ experience in image processing algorithm development required.

  • Fluency with software development processes for IVD medical devices required.

  • Sound knowledge of image processing fundamentals required.

  • Strong signal and image processing and mathematical background.

  • Experience with some advanced image processing algorithms preferred.

  • Sound software development practices and experience with developing in a group required.

  • Excellent verbal communication and technical documentation skills required.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a team as well as independently.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Domestic travel requires 10 % of time.

    International travel required <5 % of time.

    BENEFITS

    The estimated salary range for this role based in California is between $ 145,500 and $ 174,600 annually. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
