Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer, Embedded, Energy and Sustainability Devices in San Jose, California

Description

Amazon has co-founded and signed The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach net zero carbon by 2040. In alignment with this bold corporate goal, the Amazon Devices & Services organization is looking for a Sr. Embedded Software Development Engineer to invent and deliver solutions for a zero carbon future. In this position, you will work within the Energy team directly developing and contributing to our Energy product roadmap.

This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and demonstrated experience successfully leading complex safety critical software development in a dynamic environment. You will work alongside product management, research, hardware, quality, and compliance to define and build impactful devices on our Energy & Sustainability Initiatives roadmap. The ideal candidate will have industry-leading programming skills, functional safety software development experience, and a deep understanding of embedded device features and limitations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Experience in embedded development in C/C+- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design

  • 2-3+ years experience developing, certifying, shipping, and supporting functional safety software in a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Knowledge of ARM CPUs

  • Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware

  • Experience developing hardware or software for energy related products, power electronics, or other similar power systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
