Senior Cost Accounting Leader

Job Description:

Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for improving operational efficiency? Do you thrive in an environment where you can actively contribute to driving cost-saving initiatives? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Operations Cost Accountant.

As an Operations Cost Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in quantifying and comparing various elements such as bill of materials, routings, variances, and trends to identify opportunities for production process enhancements. Your insights will optimize quality, availability, and performance metrics and provide clarity for our commercial team to adjust pricing strategies accordingly.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cost accounting reviews, monitoring, and analysis of production standards and variances.

  • Take charge of inventory accuracy, control, and analytics, including addressing obsolescence and Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) to drive continuous improvement.

  • Proactively suggest and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), controls, and reporting mechanisms to identify and rectify problem areas.

  • Provide operational support by managing capital equipment authorization, asset management, and inventory control processes.

  • Own the costing processes, ensuring actionable variance analysis and driving cost reduction opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, supply chain, and estimating teams to understand product costing and streamline workflows within our ERP system.

  • Monitor and analyze cycle counting programs and inventory movements, ensuring monthly inventory accuracy.

  • Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports to help management with timely and accurate information.

  • Drive the improvement of operational metrics for current and future production systems.

  • Implement tools to audit variances and identify additional cost-saving opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with weekly and monthly accounting processes, operating within deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Proven experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Action-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

  • CPA or CMA certification (preferred but not required).
