Lyft Senior Software Engineer, Electrification in San Francisco, California

Lyft is looking for software engineers from a variety of backgrounds. We are looking for engineers who are motivated to deliver experiences that enrich the lives of our drivers and riders. As a senior engineer at Lyft, you will collaborate with team members across engineering, product, data science, and more to build and improve impactful products.

Over the past several years, we have seen a massive increase in Electric Vehicle (EV) adoption. As a member of the Electrification team, you will work with partners across the company to build and improve experiences for our EV drivers and riders – all while making a positive impact on the planet. This is one of Lyft’s newest teams, so you will have the opportunity to work on greenfield projects.

Responsibilities

  • Help define roadmap and architecture based on technology and business needs

  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge

  • Lead projects from idea to positive execution

  • Promote tech and engineering best practices

  • Collaborate closely with partners across Lyft and at partner companies to achieve results

  • Unblock, effectively communicate, and obtain buy-in across teams to achieve results

  • Act as a mentor to other developers on the team

Experience

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, related field or relevant work experience

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

  • Able to write clear, scalable code and clear design documentation

  • Relevant experience mentoring engineers on the team

  • Must have a track record of professional excellence

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected range of pay for this position in the San Francisco area is $144,000 - $180,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
