NBC Sports Bay Area/California is a regional sports content creator with both linear television and digital platform distribution. NBCSBA/CA is the home for Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A’s, San Jose Sharks, Sacramento Kings games, pregame & postgame coverage and a full complement of digital/social coverage. 

Our linear network and digital platforms serve the Bay Area and Northern California sports fans like no one else. We operate two linear channels, plus up-to-the-minute sports news and exclusive series digitally at nbcsportsbayarea.com, and through its social channels on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. 

The Content group at NBC Sports Bay Area/California is responsible for the day-to-day planning and production of on-air and digital schedules. Interns will assist in the production of daily content and programs, while also helping various production and marketing related initiatives including research, audio/video production, news gathering, editing content. 

A snapshot of your responsibilities: 

  • Take steps in next-level editing, learning from skilled NBC Sports Bay Area staff editors/manager 

  • Contribute/support editing needs as part of the daily workload 

  • Work with Manager, Video Producer/Editors on support for upcoming projects 

  • Learn both digital and linear editing platforms 

  • Understand NBC Sports Media databases and ways to work through for projects 

  • Executing detail work to procure footage from external sources 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program. 

  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 

  • Intermediate editing skills, preferably with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) or similar functionality  

  • Knowledge of sports, preferably Bay Area teams – including baseball, basketball, football, and hockey 

  • May be assigned other tasks needed to support the network's day-to-day operations 

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. 

  • Strong interest in the web, mobile, social media, sports, and television 

  • Intermediate media production experience thru college programs  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and creative skills 

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; meet deadlines and work as part of a team while also being able to work independently in a fast-paced environment 

  • Possess great organizational skills and has excellent track record for following through on projects 

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft suite.  

Additional Requirements: 

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this internship is $18.07/hr.
