If so, consider being the Grants and Revenue Accountant for the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank. Join our friendly, collaborative, and hardworking finance team, reporting to the Financial Operations Manager. The Grants & Revenue Accountant will be a strategic member of the Finance team and play a key role in accounting for government, foundation and institutional grants and contracts as well as contributions from individual and corporate donors.

This role provides growth opportunity, as it encompasses day-to-day accounting and financial close duties as well as involvement on several project-based initiatives that will provide exposure to financial operations, software implementations, and analytics. This role also provides an opportunity to work cross functionally with Programs, Development and Analytics teams. The candidate should expect to leverage current skill sets while also focusing on learning quickly and adding value to the current processes.

    What You Would Be Accountable for:

    The Grants and Revenue Accountant will be responsible for the following key pieces of work:

    Government Contracts & Grants

  • Prepare budget-related materials and supporting documents required for submission with grant proposals, funding renewals, financial reports, grant extension requests, work plans, etc.

  • Maintain communications with Food Bank staff submitting for a proposal or requesting updated financial reports to ensure a smooth process.

  • Maintain and update existing Excel models which include confidential and sensitive personnel information and serve as the basis for internal grant budgeting and invoicing.

  • Billing - Submit invoices and reimbursements forms in online grant portals.

  • Support external audit requests including preparation of supporting reports and documentation.

    Revenue

  • Accurately enter all revenue transactions into the ERP, ensuring completeness and correctness of data.

  • Manage and maintain detailed records of various revenue sources and restrictions, including governmental funding, individual contributions and corporate contributions.

  • Track and account for the release of restricted revenue (donor restrictions on timing or purpose) on a recurring basis.

  • Perform regular reconciliations to ensure consistency between financial records and actual revenue received.

  • Assist in documentation/implementation of revenue accounting processes and internal controls.

    Financial Operations

  • Participate in business process improvement initiatives within the finance department and outside the department, including supporting the implementation of new solutions.

  • Assist in driving process improvements to continuously reduce the Accounting Close Cycle duration.

    What Else You Should Know:

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor-s degree in accounting or related area, understanding of GAAP principals and non-profit accounting.

  • 3+ years of accounting experience

    KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information related to personnel administration.

  • Experience in navigating web grant portals and online grant submission processes.

  • Experience with corporate, foundation, and/or federal grant documentation, budgets, policies, and procedures.

  • Proficiency working in ERP systems, experience with Microsoft NAV a plus Fund Accounting and restricted revenue experience a plus

  • Proficient in data entry and data cleansing with a strong attention to detail

  • Advanced analytical skills through Excel (Index Matching, Vlookup, Pivot tables, etc.)

    SALARY The position is full-time. The starting salary for this position ranges from $87,941.85 - $98,936.03, with exact salary depending on experience.
