Data Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming.

  2. Be both a highly technical, hands-on coder and an effective people manager.

  3. Be a subject matter expert in at least one specific domain (examples: product, product infrastructure, infrastructure, machine learning).

  4. Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area.

  5. Work with team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy.

  6. Work on issues of diverse scope, and drive roadmap creation and execution.

  7. Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives and have an impact at an organizational level.

  8. Participate in technical design.

  9. Measure the impact of team and set clear expectations and goals.

  10. Manage, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of the team with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.

  11. Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes.

  12. Partner with leadership to influence and drive org design, contribution and prioritization.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Analytics, Physics, or related field and two years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Requires two years of experience in the following:

    1. Software engineering work including hands-on technical management building infrastructure core components
    1. Development in SQL and at least one of the following object-oriented languages: Python, Perl, or Java
    1. Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
    1. Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services
    1. Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager
    1. Building data products including front end visualization technologies interfacing with backend systems
    1. Leading data driven discussions & designing scalable data platforms for analytics
    1. Analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies
    1. Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure
    1. Applied statistics, including experimentation and regression modeling
    1. Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in large-scale systems
    1. Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams
    1. Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions
    1. Leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth.

Public Compensation:

$257,984/year to $279,400/year + bonus + equity + benefits
