Description

We are looking to bring on board a Controller in our San Francisco office. The Controller will be pivotal in managing full-service accounting and reporting for a single LP venture capital firm. The role involves working closely with various teams and third-party fund administrators, maintaining complete and current financial records, and preparing financial statements for management and investors.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate knowledge transfer by working closely with current third-party fund administrators.

• Maintain complete and current financial records for venture capital fund management companies and their investment partnerships.

• Prepare and provide quarterly valuation statements for all investments to the current fund administrator after Managing Director review.

• Track and maintain accounting for all fund investments, including capital commitments, capital calls, distributions, and performance.

• Process new investment paperwork and manage the processing of investment capital calls and distributions.

• Prepare cash flow projections; short term and long term analysis.

• Draft and circulate capital call notices for Fund members and Fund withdrawal notifications.

• Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for management and investors.

• Assist with audits of funds as required, maintain regular contact with other third-party financial service providers.

• Organize and maintain monthly receipts/expenses for all entities and process reimbursements in compliance with policies and federal requirements.

Requirements

• Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar finance leadership position

• Proficiency in Expense Accruals, Expense Reports, and Bank Reconciliations

• Demonstrable experience with Account Reconciliation and Asset Allocation

• Proficient in Investor Allocations and Wire Transfer operations

• Skilled in using MS Excel for finance-related tasks. Experience with Sage Intaact is a plus.

• Experience in Interest Calculations and Financial Statement Preparation

• Familiarity with Payroll, Fund Accounting, and Venture Capital

• Knowledge of Cost Allocation, Cash Flow Forecasts, and Cash Flow Statements

• Experience in Portfolio Administration and Asset Valuation

• Ability to perform Valuation Analysis

• Must have a legal right to work in the hiring country, in compliance with local labor laws

• Candidates should be open to undergo background checks as per company policy and local law regulations

• Must possess excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

• Should exhibit high professional standards, and ethical and responsible behavior in all business dealings

• Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with other departments.
