Manages high complexity design and planning of layout for assembly and materials handling. Adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Planning of sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

Setup and operate manual and CNC machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, saws, hones, etc. as required without supervision to machine a wide variety of aerospace hardware to very close tolerances. Machine precision aerospace hardware from a variety of materials including, stainless steel, aluminum, tool steel, carbon steel, etc. Essential Responsibilities:

• Reads and interprets drawings, sketches and blueprints including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

• Sets up machine shop equipment and machines a wide variety of hardware as requested

• Interprets Manufacturing Work Orders, Re-work Instructions, and work requests to complete work as assigned

• Works with engineers and machine technicians as required to gain understanding/clarification as needed of drawings and Machine Shop Work Requests.

• Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances in accordance with specifications.

• Selects, aligns, and secures grinding wheels, holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.

• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining parameters, such as speed, feed, depth and cut angle.

• Perform various miscellaneous and non-standard duties as required.

• Must adhere to all EH & S regulations and policies as well as attend related training courses.

• Setup and operate CNC mills, Machining Centers and/or Lathes to produce a variety of complex aerospace hardware to close tolerances.

• Machine and assemble components to produce a variety of tooling and fixtures.

• Conduct self-quality audits / perform first piece inspections, and subsequent inspections on all work.

• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed with TPM boards kept up-to-date.

• Maintains a neat and well-organized work area. Education/Certifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Machine Shop Technology degree a plus and/or any certificates such as (Tool & Die Certification, CNC qualification, etc.)

• 8-10 years of experience in machining.

• Experience in Tig Welding, Resistance Spot Welding, and use of Toolmakers Microscope a plus.

• Knowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniques a plus.
