Amee Bay, LLC, a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking Shipboard Mechanics to work at SWRMC, San Diego, CA.

Marine Mechanics perform tests, manufacture, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair of machinery and shipboard mechanical systems on all varieties of vessels.

This position performs a wide variety of different tasks depending on the needs of the company and level of experience.

Qualified candidates will be expected to:

  • Display knowledge of maritime mechanical systems.

  • Exhibit knowledge of Navy tag-out, WAF programs and applicable Naval procedures and instructions.

  • Maintain Quality Work Instruction (QWI) and associated forms.

  • Implement and monitor OSHA safety guidelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise junior personnel.

  • Possess understanding of shipboard mechanical machinery equipment and systems such as main propulsion machinery, auxiliary machinery and hydraulics.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, and inspect Hull, Mechanical and Electric (HM&E) equipment.

  • Ability to disassemble, clean, assess and inspect, reassemble and operationally test mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems components such as valves, bearings, gears, remote operators, couplings, system alignment, etc.

  • Fully versed in the use of all types of precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and torque wrenches.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals, make red-line drawings, and design recommendations.

  • Working knowledge of trade mathematics and formulas in order to calculate torque conversion, pressure & temperature specification parameters.

Position Requirements:

  • US Citizenship;

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain active Secret Security Clearance and Base Access; Candidates currently possessing an Active Secret Clearance are preferred.

  • Minimum one (1) year of marine mechancial experience.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Navy ‘A’ / ‘C’ school(s) or completion of a vocational, maritime, or journeyman training program.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

  • Must pass drug screening as a condition of employment.

  • Candidates must furnish their own hand tools required for this position.

  • Prior military experience directly related to the position or prior experience in the Maritime Industry preferred.

Position is located San Diego, CA.
