Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$25.300 - $28.114 - $30.927

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Supports the business development department while enrolled in a business degree program or equivalent degree. Works in conjunction with sales and account management professionals as a part of the sales and marketing team; provides high quality, proactive customer service in a responsive, consistent manner to prospective and in-force Sharp Health Plan employer groups. Performs functions such as servicing accounts and resolving problems to maximize account executives' field time and enhance renewal probability of Sharp Health Plan clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Other : Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college program and have earned at least 31 college credits (reached sophomore standing) by the start of the internship or must be a recent graduate (less than 1 year) from an accredited institution. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 Year experience in sales support in the health plan/insurance industry.

Essential Functions

  • Account retention/increased renewal membershipIncrease total SHP membership at renewal through successful proactive customer service.

  • Completes other duties as assignedParticipates in special projects and other duties as assigned. These may include, but are not limited to, work groups, proposals, audits and back-up support for other departments.

  • Maintain marketing goalsAchievement of SHP's Sales department's annual sales goals.

  • Office supportSupport of account executivesHelps manage Individual Sales book of business, prospects and brokers in conjunction with Individual Sales team.Provides ongoing support to Sales staff.Fields phone calls and e-mails from customers and problem-solves to effectively resolve issues.Keeps logs of activity.Assists with open enrollment meetings and health fairs as necessary.

  • Provides internal and external customer serviceProvides prompt, accurate and excellent services to internal and external customers. Develops solid professional working relationships with various internal departments and units and, as required, vendors, providers, employers, brokers and/or other customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent problem solving (cause/effect) capabilities with experience in developing and executing task-oriented action plans.

  • Sound interpersonal skills which allows positive interaction with corporate customers, employee associations, and community brokers.

  • Basic computer literacy; i.e., MS Word, Excel, e-mail. Excellent time-management and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with continually shifting priorities.

  • The ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
