We are looking for a Research Project Manager to join our Research Operations team. This team leads a variety of research studies, both internal and external, to develop new features and continue to enhance the accuracy of our algorithms. Our partnerships often lead to scientific publications and provide public validation of Oura’s health sensing capabilities.

You will manage the human research studies that are the foundation for R&D activities at Oura. Through the work, you will develop an end-to-end understanding of the entire research project lifecycle, from protocol development through data analysis.

What you will do:

  • Manage two to five human research studies at a time, including contracts, budgets, regulatory processes, logistics, training, trouble-shooting, and data quality control

  • Provide frequent updates to internal and external stakeholders

  • Become an expert on both the data collection capabilities of the Oura Ring, as well as any relevant reference devices and tools through first-hand testing, and be able to troubleshoot most issues

  • Plan studies and design protocols with others on the product and science teams

  • Write detailed standard operating procedure documentation

  • Collaborate closely with a range of technical teams to ensure high quality data and documentation

  • Pursue continual improvements to team processes and tools

This is a hybrid role based out of our San Diego office and will require office presence. If you are outside of commute distance ro our San Diego office, Oura does not cover relocation costs at this time.

Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have any of the following, but don’t worry too much if you don’t fill all the requirements:

  • Minimum one year of full-time experience in human studies research, in academic, commercial, or clinical settings (e.g. consent, IRB approval, and data flows)

  • Track record of delivering high quality data sets with meticulous documentation, while following best practices for human studies research (e.g. Good Clinical Practice)

  • Experience in managing relationships with both internal and external collaborators

  • Problem-solving mindset

  • Willingness to be flexible with scheduling (e.g. site visits and calls with the teams in Finland may occasionally fall outside normal business hours)

  • Located in the San Diego area, with the ability to visit the office multiple days per week

We also appreciate if you have familiarity with the following:

  • Women’s health studies

  • Experience with SQL or Python

  • Regulated clinical trials

  • Wearable devices or remote patient monitoring

  • Multi-modal and sensor data

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • San Diego Compensation Range: $91,000.00 - $101,000.00
