Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$35.511 - $45.821 - $56.130

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Plans and administers treatment for patients with physical or emotional disabilities, illnesses or injuries through the use of interview, cognitive tasks, physical conditioning, social skills programs, media activities etc. in accordance with physician prescription.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Recreation Therapy (or equivalent academic credentials).

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience in an acute inpatient psychiatric treatment setting

  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification -PREFERRED

  • DocumentationUses appropriate group titles on documentation each time; charting sheets are dated and signedProvides a clear, concise and objective overview of each session conducted and reflects specific clinical observations. Subjective interpretations are supported with behavioral observations.Uses correct grammar, spelling and approved hospital abbreviations; documents in a legible manner; signs, dates and uses professional designation each timeCorrections/late entries are made per guidelines

  • Patient assessmentMeets department guidelines for administering admission assessment when ordered.Recommends at least 3 activities provided by the specific program with times per week notedFollows guidelines for patients discharged and re-admitted within 30 daysIntegrates information from the assessment to assist with treatment planningIdentifies goals and timelines in concert with the patient's own goals and abilities

  • TreatmentProvides a balance and variety of groups that focus on the physical, social and cognitive needs of the patients. Activities are goal-oriented and individualized to enable each patient to achieve program/treatment goals.Demonstrates ability to select and/or modify activities taking into consideration age appropriateness, cultural, economic, social and educational needs of the patient. Regularly assesses effectiveness of programming.Communicates goals and purpose of each activity in a clear, knowledgeable and understandable manner.
