ASM Global Maintenance Assistant Engineer in San Diego, California

The Maintenance Engineer upon passing the building test, acquiring the EPA 608 universal certification, and passing C or better two classes at City College (Basic Air Conditioning / Refrigeration and Controls) will be promoted to the Engineer Position. After being promoted he or she will be required to do the following as an engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining and adjusting heat, lighting, air conditioning, power refrigeration, water treatment, and ventilation equipment of the building or buildings.

  • May maintain boiler system, repair, and maintain integrated control panels and equipment, inspect, maintain, and make emergency repairs to low-pressure steam boilers and to water, air, refrigeration, and oil lines throughout a building.

  • May clean tubes, test valves, gauges, and other equipment, install replacement parts or minor additions to or make modifications to existing equipment.

  • May keep charts, make oral and written reports, does preventive maintenance throughout a building on various mechanical equipment and to the building itself.

  • Operates boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, air-conditioning equipment, and all appurtenant equipment driven by steam, air, diesel, gas, water, or any other power-developing energy.

  • Patrols and controls all mechanical equipment to the end that the most economical and efficient results may be obtained provided that while standing a watch on a high-pressure boiler installation, he/she is not required to violate any State, County, or Civil Ordinance Codes or Law.

  • He/she performs typical building maintenance and may affect repairs on toilet facilities, registers, radiators, lights, fixtures, furniture, walls, floors, and similar assigned duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires excellent organization skills, and the ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management.

  • Must exhibit strong customer service skills, professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.

  • The Operating Engineer must be self-motivated.

  • Ability to work smoothly and efficiently under pressure is required.

  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and odd hours required by each event.

  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.

  • Knowledge of current building codes and regulations.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Position may require heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling, and equipment operation both indoors and outdoors.

  • The position may require working at heights of 60 feet and over, as well as, walking on high catwalks

  • The position may require the ability to walk on concrete floors 2 to 4 miles per workday

  • This position is subject to adverse conditions.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • EPA Certificate 608 required.

  • BOMA certification is a plus.

  • Minimum two years experience in building maintenance or related field.

  • Building maintenance or related field experience with basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
