SAIC Linux Software Systems Engineer in SAN DIEGO, California

Description

SAIC is seeking a Linux Software Systems Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) Messaging CB ISEA. The work will be conducted at the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) San Diego, CA, Old Town Center .

The SAIC Team provides a full range of engineering, technical support, management, and logistics services in support of the Messaging programs. Support of these systems includes technical support for installations, providing systems and software engineering, software development and infrastructure as code, integration and testing of hardware and software functions, and testing of new baselines and/or new capability of messaging systems.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Works with a team responsible for developing, integrating, testing, and deploying a system that is isolated from the internet.

  • Establish and maintain GIT repository in development environment isolated from internet.

  • Create, install, and maintain virtual machines, containers, and applications with pre-built software applications in a Red Hat Linux environment.

  • Provide system administration support for Red Hat Linux based servers.

  • Provide configuration and administration support for VMware vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and Terraform.

  • Provide installation, configuration, and administration support for database, identity and access management, and messaging services incorporated into a automated deployment and update environments isolated from the internet.

  • Develop Ansible playbooks, scripts, and code for automation of system builds, deployments, test and maintenance.

  • Document system configurations and administration processes.

Qualifications

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and nine (9) years of related experience, or Master's Degree with seven (7) years of related experience. Will consider additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Preferred background as a software engineer with experience with Design, System Administration, System Automation, Documentation, Testing and Maintenance of Software Systems in an Agile environment using CI/CD tools.

  • Experience with VMWare networking and resource management tools, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and deploying virtual machines and containerized applications using Docker, Podman, OpenShift, vCenter, VMware and/or Python and JavaScript, and setting up GIT repositories.

  • 5+ years Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration (RHCSA 8.2+ certified with Ansible experience)

  • 3+ years GIT Repository setup/configuration and administration (Gitlab, Github, or Bitbucket)

Required certification(s):

  • Current Security+, CISSP, or CASP certification.

  • Current Linux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification preferred.

Required clearance:

  • Active DOD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain DOD Top Secret

Desired experience:

  • Current Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.

  • Nutanix Experience.

  • Ansible Experience.

  • Current Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

  • Experience designing or administering PaaS (Platform as a Service) infrastructure a plus.

Target salary range: $155,001 - $165,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
