Job Description

Rate of Pay: $16.30/hr

Under the direction of the Spa Manager, maintain the Massage departments day to day operations to assure a smooth, five star performance while exceeding every guest’s expectation and maintaining a positive working environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administer massage and other body treatments to spa guests according to treatment outline as needed.

  • Assess and accommodate guest needs inquiring about their physical well being in order to perform appropriate service.

  • Desire and ability to educate and sell products to guests and staff in a knowledgeable, professional and thorough manner.

  • Provide training to all treatments staff on massage/body services so they can accurately describe and /or schedule treatments for guests.

  • Maintain massage/body treatment inventory and supplies.

  • Train treatment staff in product knowledge and in appropriate sales techniques.

  • Maintain availability and dedication to The Spa at the Grand Del Mar, being available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of spa and resort programs, facilities, activities and products.

  • Participate in and contribute to staff meetings, training, product knowledge classes and team efforts.

  • Provide necessary information to compile complete guest records.

  • Promote and execute effective retail sales.

  • Abide by all California State Board guidelines.

  • Comply with all Grand Del Mar Company safety and health policies and procedures.

  • Oversee and maintain the cleanliness and neatness as well as all of the treatment areas and Spa facilities.

  • Conduct tours of the facility as requested.

  • Ensure the treatment staff provides appropriate and consistent levels of guest service and hospitality.

  • Treat all sensitive personal medical information on guest in strictest confidence. 

  • Maintain personal appearance and grooming standards consistent with the management standards.

  • Work cooperatively and professionally with all departments.

  • Serve as a role model in all job functions.

  • Stay current on all department information, become well-versed and trained in its application and train locker room staff accordingly.

  • Fill in for other massage providers as needed. Maintain a positive, guest service oriented attitude and a sense of humor. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager.  Ability to work in a high-volume, busy service environment while maintaining composure and focus on the guest. 

Qualifications

  • Must be professional, service oriented, accurate, gentle and work with attention to detail, striving to exceed the expectations of every guest every time.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.  

  • Valid California State and Local County License Some computer knowledge helpful; not required. 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office application, Spa Soft (will train) and basic accounting principles.

  • Excellent personal appearance, good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally and multitask with ease all while focusing on the guest. 

  • Knowledge of guest service and/or hospitality industry a plus.

  • Minimum two years supervising and administrating massage/body treatment services in a luxury resort or spa setting preferred.
