Fortive Corporation Industrial Control System Software Engineer in San Diego, California

What you’ll do

Have you ever wondered if you could use your industrial control systems knowledge to genuinely make a difference? The work we do in cell therapy helps improve people’s chances of surviving cancers and life threatening diseases, so this might be that opportunity!!

As a proactive, self-motivated and experienced individual, you’ll design control system software for Siemens programmable logic controllers using Siemens TIA portal.

The architectures you define and implement will be targetting a GMP manufacturing environment for custom automation projects. The projects you will predominantly be involved in will be for Cell Therapies, an emerging and exciting space that is continually growing! Other key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Consulting with clients and stakeholders on equipment & control system options & issues;

  • Assisting with user & functional requirements specifications

  • Creating software design specifications, provide input to equipment manuals and training material.

  • Participating in technical reviews

  • Programming a range of PLCs and HMIs, test and debug modules, test beds and final equipment (hands on integration and final acceptance testing)

  • Working with support staff and other contractors

  • Assisting in the development of project plans and play your part to achieve the successful delivery of these

  • Installing and commissioning equipment at Invetech and supplier sites

    About you

    With your substantial control systems development experience and industry knowledge, you will enjoy having direct input into the sales conversion process, project planning, execution, management of project timelines, budget and work scope. This role will give you countless opportunities to be heavily involved in our key projects! More specifically, you will possess:

  • Ability to develop and commission Siemens based industrial control systems, including HMI, using Siemens TIA portal platforms

  • Self starter with a drive to understand your customers and understand the need to manage expectations

  • Knowledge and experience with industrial sensors, actuators and control equipment

  • Familiarity with GMP manufacturing environment, preferably for biopharmaceuticals and/or therapeutic products

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
