BAE Systems Forensic Analyst Intern in San Diego, California

Job Description

Department of Homeland Security s (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) Biometric Support Center (BSC) contract. OBIM s database, IDENT, is one of the largest fingerprints responsories in the world containing over 250M identities. The BSC team provides 24 x 7 around the clock fingerprint comparison services to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, medical examiners offices and other agencies.

Job Description

The Forensic Analyst Intern administrative tasks will be assigned approximately 16 hours a week. Tasks are as assigned but not limited to: assisting in completing daily, weekly and monthly statistical reports; review, create electronic file jackets and log all incoming casework; conduct inventory assessments and disseminate reports, pull FBI prints utilizing ULW, review and disseminate Lead Track Reports and create tenprint cards from the customer s repository. The intern will be trained in proper methods of conducting fingerprint comparisons following the ACE-V methodology and how to complete a fingerprint transaction review and correction. Upon successful completion of their training program, the intern will be required to work independently providing the services listed above with accuracy.

The Internship will be for 6 months. Each position will be comprised of two 8-hour days starting at 6am and ending at 2:30pm.

Must be flexible and able to work 2 days a week 8.5 hours a day (include unpaid lunch)

Forensic Analyst Intern will conduct....

Administrative tasks:

  • Daily Reports

  • Weekly Reports

  • Monthly Reports

  • Latent Print and Tenprint logging of cases

  • Latent Print and Tenprint email account monitoring

  • Latent Print and Tenprint results report writing and dissemination

  • Tenprint Card Creation

  • Inventory Property Management

  • Lead Track review and dissemination

  • Pulling ULW prints

  • Other tasks as needed

Queue related duties:

  • FSM

  • Training/CVT Queue Exposure

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, ect).

Web based applications (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Google)

Must be currently enrolled as a Senior or recent graduate from a Forensic Science/Criminal Justice college program

Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Access Database

Professional Forensic Organizations (SCAFO, IAI, CSDIAI, ect)

Microsoft Access

Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Photoshop

Preferred knowledge of Fingerprints

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $36440 - $49177

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
