Serco Field Service Engineer - (75%+ Travel) in San Diego, California

Position Description

The Electronic Surveillance System (ESS) Shore Team specializes in installing Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) and many more, on various Military bases.

If you love engaging in challenging projects, traveling and career growth; join our team as a Field Service Engineer and performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may also be reviewed in progress

  • Follow specific instructions, assemble or construct simple or standard equipment or parts; may service or repair simple instruments or equipment

  • Conduct a variety of tests using established methods; prepare test specimens, adjust/operate equipment, and record test data, pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors

  • Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources; process the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry; present the data in prescribed form

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools and proper use cases.

  • Experience in installing cable through conduit, on cable "J" hooks, cable baskets and various cable way types. Through plenum spaces in overhead and under raised floors.

  • Knowledge of using specilized tools without supervised direction. (Terminate Cat 5 / 6 with RJ45’s, Crimp tools, Conduit bender, Soldering Iron, Glow rod’s, fish tape).

  • Fundimental termination knowledge of RJ-45 Male, RJ-45 Female, Coax connectors or connections and low voltage connections.

  • Experienced understanding for reading Technical design drawings, Technical manuals and Schematics with minimal supervision. Can follow design documents for system installation and or upgrade functions.

  • Capable of being a self starter with minimal supervised interaction.

  • Experienced using computers for data tracking and documentation (spreadsheet, word processing tools).

  • Ahigh school diploma/GED and 1+ years' of ESS experience

  • Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance

  • Ability to travel 75+ percent of the time, domestic or international, as needed.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • An active DoD Secret clearance

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $59,906 to $99,844; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
