ABOUT

The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four civil/vertical construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, vertical construction, site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the successful execution of construction and industrial services projects. The Estimator must possess a strong knowledge of cost estimation techniques, project management principles, and adhere to AIS Infrastructure's safety standards and protocols.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine project requirements and scope.

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates by quantifying materials, labor, and equipment required for construction projects.

  • Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for cost estimation.

  • Utilize cost estimation software and tools to calculate costs and generate detailed reports.

  • Evaluate and analyze project risks, identifying potential cost overruns and proposing mitigation strategies.

  • Review and compare subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

  • Prepare and present cost estimates to clients, management, and stakeholders.

  • Provide support in the negotiation and procurement of contracts, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost tracking throughout the construction process.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, construction market conditions, and pricing of materials and labor.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications in cost estimation or construction management (e.g., Certified Cost Professional) are a plus.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimation for civil construction projects.

  • Sound knowledge of construction project management principles.

  • Familiarity with construction industry practices, including subcontracting and procurement.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost calculations.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex data.

  • Proficiency in using cost estimation software and tools.

  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve cost-related issues.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and project management software.
