KR Wolfe Construction Superintendent in San Diego, California

KR Wolfe Inc. seeks a dynamic Superintendent for our Healthcare/Government Division. The Construction Superintendent role will be the leader on-site and supervise all technical aspects of the construction site. This includes managing customer and stakeholder relationships including subcontractors, architects and project managers. The Construction Superintendent position will oversee all stages from early pre-construction through to close-out of projects including planning and coordinating all field activities. Superintendents will work closely with the Construction Services Department.


The position of Superintendent of Construction Services is responsible for the management and completion of commercial, medical and/or government construction contracts. The Superintendent will work closely with both the management and construction teams to ensure that projects are completed timely and within scope of work. The Superintendent must have advanced skills in general construction applications, project management, the ability to read and understand construction diagrams, and be well-versed in OSHA safety practices. Provide effective, organized and consistent supervision and management of construction work for all trades and vendors to support the requirements of the contract and KR Wolfe Inc. Will require travel.


  • Core duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Delegates responsibilities to laborer

  • Manages weekly subcontractor meetings

  • Coordination of entire jobsite, trades, start dates, and sequencing scope

  • Ensures safety

  • Coordinates jobsite walks

  • Preconstruction meetings with subcontractors

  • Oversees punch list completion

  • Review plans or specifications to determine work requirements.

  • Complete daily reports

  • Supervise, coordinate, or schedule the activities of construction workers.

  • Provides direction and oversight to Assistant Superintendent when needed

  • Ensures that specifications are met.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Coordinate and Manage Construction with Sub-Contractors. Have a clear and complete understanding of project documents.

  • Communicate scheduling.

  • Manage conformity quality standards.

  • Coordinate with other trades to ensure a consistent and productive work flow * Manage Schedule for conformity to clients? needs.

  • Be observant that the progress of the project is meeting the scheduled completion dates.

  • Continuously communicate progress to not only the subcontractors but also the Project Manager and the client (PM will determine what level of communication is appropriate with a specific client). 3-week look ahead?s are noted below written daily reports and photos are required as well.

  • Assure that all construction is being completed in compliance with the contract drawings and the specific OSHPD/ DOD project/s requirements.

  • Build a strong and trust-based relationship with the IOR. Verify all work to be in compliance and complete prior to scheduling inspections.

  • Generate three (3) week look ahead?s weekly and publish to Subs and PM team.

  • Must have the ability to focus on finding solutions rather than simply identifying problems.

  • Conduct weekly safety meetings.

  • Create and submit ?Daily Reports? and submit at the end of every shift * Maintain Timely and Accurate Job-Site Documentation.

  • Daily reports, conversation reports, RFI?s, safety meeting minutes, schedules using MS Project. * Maintain a Professional Attitude and Demeanor At All Times.

  • Supervise and Manage Project Completion and Job Close-Out to Meet Schedule Requirements.

  • Candidates must have a positive attitude towards change.

  • Must be not only a leader but also a team player and understand the difference between bringing a ?team? together to finish a project.

Learn and motivate lower level PM?s to learn by inspiring intelligent questions, taking and sharing appropriate notes, and sharing information.

Ensure standards are met from a functional and visual standard perspective.

In partnership with management address onsite issues in a timely fashion to prevent losing time and momentum. Any scope increase, equipment failure, negative test result, or other overall non-standard job issue needs to be brought to management?s attention immediately.


Minimum of Three (3) years of verifiable OSHPD/ Government- DOD Military project/s experience

Minimum of three (3) verifiable client references

Certifications- OSHA 30, CQM, CPR - preferred

Special Government Clearance preferred.

Ability to create and maintain 3-week look ahead using Microsoft Project

Computer savvy and capable of effectively using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.

Dynamic leader with exceptional organization and communication skills (oral and written).

The ability and willingness to do some self-perform work (framing, drywall, etc.) should it be required.

High School Diploma required- College degree preferred - but not required.

Candidates must have a valid Driver License and a clean driving record. All final candidates will be subject to Drug Screening, Motor Vehicle Report, and a Criminal Background

This position requires a minimum of a 40 hour work week. This salary position is considered exempt and is not eligible for overtime earnings. This position will also include overnight travel on an ?as needed? basis.
