Day Shift; 8 hour shifts; Part-time: 6 shifts per pay period; Monday – Friday 0745 – 1615; Saturday, Sunday, Holidays 0700 – 1530; including every other weekend

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate of Nursing School/Program

  • Current unencumbered California Registered Nurse licensure

  • Current AHA BLS certification for Healthcare Providers

  • Two years recent, pertinent clinical experience as defined by the NCBA

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing

  • Certification as a Wound Ostomy Nurse(WOCN)

  • Acute Care (Hospital) experience

  • Demonstrates advanced competencies in all areas of the unit skills

  • Serves as a role model for professional behavior through participation in committees

  • Assumes the responsibility of resource role and teaching role

  • Demonstrates leadership skills, which allow the nurse to positively influence the practice of others

  • Provides expert direct patient (wound) care and integrates care with multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient outcomes as assessed by patients, family, physicians and staff

  • Demonstrates complex problem solving and the use of critical thinking

  • May participate in the process of evidence-based research utilization

  • Serves as a role model for professional behavior through participation in committees

The Advanced Clinician will provide education/consultation to clinical nurses and medical staff to promote excellence in nursing practice and patient outcomes in the areas of wound management, pressure ulcer prevention and ostomy care.

Sharp HealthCare wound healing programs provides comprehensive care to patients until healing for either chronic or slow-healing wounds. Sharp Memorial Hospital wound healing services see patients on an inpatient basis by physician referral. Inpatient wound healing services offered by Sharp Memorial Hospital involve a collaborative process between primary care providers and referring physicians to provide comprehensive and advanced wound treatment. The center staff include certified wound, ostomy and continence (CWON) nurses who serve as wound healing/ostomy experts to nursing staff, physicians and multi-disciplinary teams.
