SOLUTE Careers ADNS Senior Network Engineer in San Diego, California

Sigma Defense is seeking a self-directed and highly motivated individual to join our team as an ADNS Senior Network Engineer to help engage in converging all voice, video, and data communications between ship and shore.

The Automated Digital Network System (ADNS) is an Acquisition Category II spiral development program that incorporates and adapts a variety of Commerical-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) hardware and software. ADNS is the Tactical Internet Protocol (IP) Routing and Switching system for Wide Area Network IP Services which connect afloat units to the various global shores sites. It provides ship and shore IP connectivity and promotes efficient use of available satellite and line of site communications bandwidth.

The primary duties and responsibilities for this position, minimum required skills, and additional requested qualifications and experience are listed below. Salary is to be commensurate to candidate experience.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in DoD or other Government Unclassified and Classified Systems/Networks, Cisco Routing and Switching, Network Engineering, Network Testing, and Implementation Planning.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and ensure optimum productivity.

  • Ability to work with Network related hardware and software.

  • Ability to conduct research on Cisco or other related Network hardware components.

  • Ability to conduct testing and regression testing on Government facilities.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite Products, and PC hardware architecture.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and to take imitative.

  • Ability to quickly grasp and implement technical concepts.

  • Ability to work well with other Engineering focus groups and personnel ranging from Junior to Chief Network, Systems, or Cyber Engineers.

  • Network Engineering experience with ADNS, CANES, or CaaS is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field of study.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance.

  • A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Mandatory Certifications:

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II - Security+ (or equivalent) and CCNA; CCNP is preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities (not all-inclusive)

  • Assist with development and modernization of Government systems, sub-systems, and components through engineering integrations.

  • Assist with development and modernization of Government Networks via Software defined capability or similar engineering integrations.

  • Support improvement of WAN/LAN posture leading architecture research and design in support of current and future Naval Requirements.

  • Provide engineering change support to the In-Service Engineering Activity team via on-site services on equipment/systems to perform Cisco-based troubleshooting, identification of root cause and correction of other system-specific faults and failures.

  • Participate in numerous Network integration and testing support events within Government test facilities in support of system interoperability.

  • Perform technical document reviews and participate in technical working groups.

  • Configure Cisco C3850 and C9300 series switches. Configurations include Layer-2 and Layer-3 switch configurations.

  • Maintain port security on all network devices and coordinate with local lab system administrators with deployment of new computers, VoIP, dVTC and sVTC devices.

  • Configure and maintain Palo Alto (PA-850) firewalls. Configurations include network configurations such as V-wire and Layer-3 creation and maintenance of objects, zones, and policy rules.

  • Configure and maintain TACLANE (KG175 series) devices. Configurations include network configuration, peer routes, and keying devices.

  • Liaison to local lab managers and system administrators on the installation of the RDT&E network to include hardware purchase, baseline configuration, local system administration responsibilities and duties to maintain system compliance.

  • Liaison to local and Chief Engineers on testing and integration plans via Naval Fleet requirements.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 annually.
