Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Workers' Compensation Specialist to join our team at Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center. This role coordinates the operations of the Workers' Compensation program, utilizing case management methods to facilitate employees' return to maximum health and work with minimal lost time. You will administer documentation in cooperation with the Third Party Administrator (TPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), providing coordination, planning, development, evaluation, and monitoring of the Workers' Compensation and Return to Work (RTW) programs.

As a Workers' Compensation Specialist, you will use a problem-solving process that includes assessment, problem identification, goal definition, plan development, evaluation, and revision to achieve optimal employee outcomes for work-related injuries. You will work with injured employees, the Administrator for the Self-Insured Trust, medical service providers, and employer designates. This role requires a full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center and demonstrating behavior consistent with our Core Values. You will support the hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of quality improvement and process improvement activities.

In this role, you will act as a liaison between employees, management, and the Workers' Compensation administrator. You will oversee the initiation of Workers' Compensation claims, conduct timely investigations of work-related injury claims, and coordinate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to solicit action from management regarding injury prevention. Additionally, you will manage the progress of claims with the Workers' Compensation administrator, Employee Health, physicians, and CHSB management, promoting a healthy and safe work environment through in-service training and participation in committees addressing work-related injuries and safety.

Your responsibilities will also include managing the Transitional Duty Program, facilitating effective communication between care team members and injured employees, coordinating Representative Job Analysis (RJA) and Modified/Alternative review, and ensuring facility compliance with corporate and regulatory agency Workers' Compensation measures and standards. Attention to detail is crucial in this role, as is providing relief in the Employee Health and Infection Control departments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of recent experience as a Workers' Compensation Case Manager in healthcare.

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of treatment modalities for workers' comp-related injuries.

  • Knowledge of California Workers' Comp regulations and OSHA regulations.

  • Ability to work effectively with other clinical professionals and the medical staff.

Pay Range

$26.51 - $38.44 /hour
