What you’ll do:

The Welder is responsible for welding metal components together to fabricate or repair products, using brazing and variety of arc and gas welding equipment.

  • Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair equipment, fixtures, test stands, automotive chassis and engines, etc.; according to layouts, blue prints, or work orders; using both gas welding or brazing, and any combination of arc welding processes.

  • Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, using pattern torch, bandsaw grinder, and other power tools.

  • Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts by various processes.

  • Performs maintenance on lab exhaust systems.

  • Fabricates and installs new test stand equipment.

  • Aligns new test stands.

  • May be required to perform duties in other Support Services activities for indefinite periods.

  • To carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • HS Diploma or GED and 2+ years’ experience in general welding.

  • Needs to be proficient in arc, MIG, TIG, and gas welding.

  • Must know how to read blue prints and have experience in layout and general fabrication.

  • Must have valid operator's license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Must respond to call for emergency repairs during off-duty hours.

  • Frequent exposure to intense heat and glare requiring use of personal protection equipment.

  • Must be able to carry object in excess of 50 lbs.
