Responsibilities

Brake Check-s Systems Engineer is responsible for the evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications, programs and hardware supporting the company-s business systems infrastructure, processes and operations. Other functions include analyzing, installing, and maintaining support systems, operating systems, databases, and utilities software. The Systems Engineer also plans, conducts and directs the analysis, development and implementation of business and technical solutions. The systems engineer must be aware of most aspects of current and developing technologies.

In more detail:

  • Studying and monitoring existing systems and technical infrastructure to ensure structural integrity and capacity and assessing required upgrades.

  • Researching available software, hardware and equipment necessary to optimize and maintain the performance of Brake Check systems.

  • Monitoring network systems to ensure operations remain safe and efficient.

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Identifying issues in production process and recommending strategies for improvement.

  • Coordinating with other Brake Check departments to identify aeras for improvement and developing optimal solutions.

  • Mentor and train other IT Staff throughout the company and seek to continually improve processes companywide

  • Work closely with IT Staff professionals within the company to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently

  • Provide clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution

  • Be proactive about challenges or constraints within a project and seek to manage them accordingly

  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, manpower and time necessary

  • Assist other department technicians in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team

  • Establish milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration

Qualifications for Systems Engineer

  • Experience developing and deploying web and desktop applications for a large corporation in a highly virtualized environment.

  • A minimum of five years hands-on experience implementing, configuring and managing VMware host software and servers and virtual machines.

  • A minimum of five years hands-on experience implementing, configuring and managing Microsoft Windows Data Center software and virtual servers.

  • A minimum of five years hands-on experience implementing, configuring and managing wide-area networking with PCI Compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated project development and leadership skills.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred.

  • Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.

  • Professional work experience in team building and project managing.

  • Advanced education and application of business analysis techniques and strategy.

  • Professional experience and a high-level understanding of working with various operating systems and their implications.

  • Ability to work together with teams from several departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.
