Microsoft Corporation Senior Risk Program Manager in San Antonio, Texas

At Microsoft's Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) division, we are the driving force behind the cloud platforms and services utilized by millions daily, including a significant portion of Fortune 500 businesses and users of Azure and Microsoft 365. Our team's work is foundational to Microsoft’s mission: empowering every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. In the role of Senior Risk Program Manager within the CO+I Risk Management team, your impact will be felt across the entire lifecycle of infrastructure delivery and operations, supporting the vast array of Microsoft’s cloud services.

CO+I builds the physical datacenters, networks, fiber paths, and satellite base stations around the world that support Microsoft’s entire cloud business strategy. You will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and reporting on risks to our global physical infrastructure. This involves collaborating with a diverse range of teams and experts within Microsoft, contributing significantly to key business decisions and ensuring the delivery of resilient, safe, and trustworthy infrastructure.

On our team, you will have a critical role and accountability to ensure that site selection, region planning, and long-term operations of our infrastructure achieves our risk and resilience goals globally, but with a focus on infrastructure across the Americas region. This role is flexible in that you will be able to partner with your Manager to define the way that you’d like to work, whether that is in the office or from home.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to source high-confidence data for risk identification and quantification, adhering to organizational standards.

  • Integrate risk insights and decisions into the CO+I Risk Management System, effectively communicating pertinent details to relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead in ensuring mitigation strategies are thoroughly documented, validated, and align with our business objectives.

  • Build and foster relationships grounded in trust with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Enhance Risk Management System and organizational understanding of existential physical threats to Microsoft’s global infrastructure

  • Drive enhancements in the Risk Management System and Program, leveraging methods such as Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) or other relevant risk quantification and management frameworks.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in Risk Management, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Government Intelligence, Operations, Auditing, and/or Finance

  • OR Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in Risk Management, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Government Intelligence, Operations, Auditing, and/or Finance

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Government Intelligence, Security, Cybersecurity, or Information Technology, or related field

  • Experience in data center selection, design, evaluation, and/or operations at a hyperscale level.

  • Experience in key risk areas such as water and hydrodynamic issues, energy and electrical markets, geopolitical issues, or meteorological threats.

  • Risk management and data visualization background (certification is a plus).

  • Experience with Risk Management standards and engineering practices such as FMEA.

  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural, electrical).

Risk Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
