Quiddity Project Manager in San Antonio, Texas

SUMMARY

The project manager is directly responsible for leading a small team to deliver projects that meet the needs of clients and stakeholders for the Site Development Department in San Antonio, Texas. Responsible for all aspects planning, implementing, monitoring and delivering project plans from start to finish. The project manager is the primary liaison with the client, monitoring progress of performance against the project plan. This includes identifying, resolving, or escalating operational or client issues to ensure project delivery within parameters. This is an entry level project management position, managing small projects, projects or phases of a larger project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceptualizes the initial project scope, fee and schedule. Responsible for the planning and delivery of a project or projects of limited scope, managing all aspects of the project from start to finish, to meet quality standards, required specifications and project parameters including schedule and budget.

  • Designs, communicates, and implements the operational plan for completing a project, holding self and team accountable for project deliverables; monitors progress and performance against the plan.

  • Works collaboratively with variety of engineering/design disciplines and teams to build relationships and secures specialized resources and contributions for the project.

  • Prepares proposals (including scope of work, fee and schedule), client agreements and sub-consultant agreements. Manages contracts and finances of project including contract, budget and cost-estimate reviews, client invoicing and initiates collection if required.

  • Manages activities, allocates resources, and assigns tasks to ensure task and project targets are met. Ensures project standards and practices are applied. Troubleshoots and resolves operational problems.

  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, studies, construction documents, analyses, plan sets, drawings, maps, reports, and JC quality processes required for project delivery. Ensures plans and technical specifications are accurate and aligned to project purpose and need. Prepares a range of reports related to project work and communicates progress and issues to clients and stakeholders.

  • Creates review schedules for engineering and if required, construction, to capture changes and makes changes within defined parameters, or makes recommendations. May prepare supplemental agreements for changes in scope, including fee and schedule.

  • Working with the construction inspection group, creates construction site inspection schedule, reviews reports and conducts construction site visits. Collaboratively addresses design issues arising during construction phase.

  • Communicates with regulatory agencies and may be their assigned point of contact.

  • Communicates regularly with clients, relaying concerns and issues candidly and tactfully. Builds strong client relationships and proactively anticipates client needs and may hold and attend meetings. May act a principle contact for clients for projects and/or programs, with the guidance of a senior engineer or manager.

  • Assists with business development by cultivating and maintaining excellent client relationships, implementing marketing initiatives, helping with proposals, SOQs, presentations and client meetings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for leading and mentoring a small project team of engineers, technical and administrative staff through the lifecycle of the project or projects. May provide direct supervision or support supervisors by providing feedback on performance and assisting with technical development and talent acquisition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or related engineering.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas or ability to obtain or transfer within 6 months of hire date.

  • 4-6 years of site development experience in the civil engineering field and/or general land development experience.

  • Experience with using AutoCAD and Civil3D programs.

  • 2-3 years of project oversight/team lead experience.

  • Valid TX driver’s license and insurable driving record.

PREFERRED

Experience in San Antonio market is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The role requires occasional work outside in variable weather conditions and on uneven terrain with exposure to noise, dust and fumes when personal protective equipment (PPE) may need to be worn in accordance with the company’s safety policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to see and work with computer monitors for a significant portion of the day and discern fine detail. Able to speak, listen, walk, walk up and downstairs, drive, climb, crawl, bend, kneel, twist, stretch and stand. May need to lift or move objects. Occasionally heavier objects may need to be lifted/moved and in all cases the incumbent should ensure they have assistance to lift or move safely.

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This position requires working overtime, as needed.

TRAVEL

No regular travel requirements for this position; may have occasional travel requirements to other JC offices for meetings and coordination.
