Description We are searching for a meticulous Program Accountant to join our team in the government sector. This role is based in San Antonio, Texas, and offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As a Program Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities related to assigned programs, ensuring adherence to federal rules and regulations. You will work closely with Program Managers and Directors to provide accurate and timely financial reports and aid in fiscal decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct financial analysis and forecasting of program revenues and expenditures

• Develop and revise program and grant budgets as necessary

• Record funds received to the programs or grants assigned

• Collaborate with Program Directors monthly to ensure timely and accurate financial information

• Aid in the fiscal decision-making of the individual programs assigned

• Monitor monthly program and grant budgets to inform of under or overspending and develop resolution strategies

• Maintain copies of all contracts for the programs or grants assigned

• Keep track of all due dates for reporting requirements for the agency and grants to ensure accurate and timely submissions

• Stay updated with compliance requirements of federal, state, and local grants

• Prepare and participate in monitor visits or desk reviews by funders

• Prepare and submit expense drawdowns and journal entries for assigned grants

• Meet with Program Directors monthly to review budget vs. actual reports for programs, projects, and grants

• Attend Finance Department meetings and support the Director of Finance with audit preparation, agency budgets, projections, and other projects as assigned. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the government sector

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and Sage Accounting Software, including Sage Intacct

• Strong knowledge and practical experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems

• Demonstrated experience in managing Accounting Functions such as Month End Close and Financial Statement Preparation

• Experience in handling Budget allocations, monitoring Budget Constraints, and tracking Budget performance

• Competence in Grant Accounting, with a focus on governmental grant management

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification is preferred

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with various departments and stakeholders

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and integrity at all times.
