The hospitals provide state-of-the-art treatment that is recovery-oriented and science-based. Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan.The Maintenance Specialist I works 8 to 5 Monday thru Friday. However, the Facility Maintenance Department provides 24/7 /365 shift rotational coverage in support of two Health and Specialty Care Systems (HSCS) facilities; the San Antonio State Hospital (SASH) and the State Supported Living Center(SSLC). Accordingly, occasional changes to this schedule (including regularly scheduled days off and regularly scheduled hours) are required and may occur with minimal notice. Where possible, rotation of on-call and shift coverage is evenly distributed among all technicians. Will be required to respond to the Facility Maintenance Department's Emergency Preparedness Response Team 24/7 /365. Maintenance Specialist I (General and#176;Maintenance) performs assigned work at the Facility Maintenance Department servingSASH and SSLC.Maintenance Specialist I performs semi-skilled routine entry-level building general maintenance, repair, adjustment and construction work in the basic trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained, meet hospital standards requirements of the Facility Maintenance department serving the San Antonio State Hospital (SASH) and the San Antonio State Supported Living Center (SASSLC). Duties may include a variety of trades/areas (i.e., carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, grounds, HVAC, fire safety/life safety and locks. Will execute and perform work orders in a timely manner as assigned by the supervisor. Reports directly to the Team Supervisor for work and job assignments. Work involves assisting in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment and operating motorized equipment. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs preventive and routine maintenance to provide continuous, uninterrupted services to provide a safe ', operating condition for patients receiving services, staff, and public visitors. Resolves immediate operational and/or safety concerns without haste. Performs a variety of entry-level building maintenance and construction work, including troubleshooting, maintenance, modification, and repair work in assigned maintenance operations areas in the following trades: air and#173;conditioning and heating systems, refrigeration, boilers, carpentry, electrical, fire safety, grounds, painting, plumbing, and performs related work as required.
