Major Accountabilities: The internship program inspires tomorrow’s innovators by developing highly motivated Electrical Engineering majors who are ready for challenging projects in the following areas:

*Electrical (Power) Engineering: * Responsible for overall safety & reliability of industrial power distribution system. Supports refinery projects by developing equipment design specifications, performing engineering design reviews & providing startup/commissioning technical support. Develops & leads electrical reliability improvement initiatives.

*Process Controls Engineering: * Develops & implements process control schemes in plant-distributed control system. Recommends options to optimize refinery operations.

*Instrument Engineering: * Provides technical expertise for specification, design, purchase & commission of process instruments. Designs instrumented systems such as programmable logic controllers & safety-rated logic solvers. Troubleshoots instrument problems for Operations & Maintenance.

Positions may be available at any of the following locations: Benicia, CA - Benicia Refinery Wilmington, CA - Wilmington Refinery Meraux, LA - Meraux Refinery Norco, LA - St. Charles Refinery Ardmore, OK - Ardmore Refinery Memphis, TN - Memphis Refinery Corpus Christi, TX - Bill Greehey Refinery Houston, TX – Houston Refinery Texas City, TX – Texas City Refinery Port Arthur, TX - Port Arthur Refinery San Antonio, TX – Valero Headquarters Sunray, TX - McKee Refinery Three Rivers, TX - Three Rivers Refinery

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in Electrical Engineering required. * Overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or higher) preferred. * Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of summer internship required. * Graduation dates of August 2025 through May 2027 required. * Ability to work 40 hours per week in person required.

The rate for this position is $34 to $41 per hour and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting.
