Position

SAS has an opening for a Desktop Support Technician. The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for maintaining all PC/Apple desktop and printer related operations. The primary duties include taking helpdesk phone calls and tickets from end users, updating software and hardware for pc desktops and printers. Replacing, testing and building pc hardware for SAS end users. You will need to be able to work collaboratively and independently and must have a good technical knowledge of MS Windows/MAC OS operating systems and MS Office applications. You will be working closely with the Active Directory and Systems and Networking teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support all PC/Apple desktops/laptops and printer related operations.

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting all PC/Apple desktops/laptops and printer related issues.

  • Assist employees with the setup, configuration, and ongoing usage of computers, laptops, peripheral devices, and software in accordance with established standards and norms.

  • Provide basic training on computer operation and management

  • Maintain warehouse/manufacturing printers and handheld scanners

  • Completing service requests/documenting incidents/problems/tasks

  • Help writing technical documents for service desk as well as step-by-step technical documents for end users

  • Perform software installations and build, implement PC images for deployments

  • Maintain IT security standards in the desktop support area

  • Assist and work on server system upgrades as directed

  • Maintenance of Active Directory user and computer accounts, email accounts, file storage, and desktop applications

  • Troubleshooting PC networking and connection issues

  • Verbal communication and proper phone etiquette

  • Ability to effectively multi-task responsibilities

  • Perform daily duties as directed.

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience

  • Must be a self-starter with the desire to take initiative.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Efficient written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

  • Must be able to sit or stand for 8 – 10 hours.

Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Must have a good technical knowledge of MS Windows/MAC OS operating systems and PC/MAC hardware

  • Networking experience with TC/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, and network protocols

  • Improves technical references by creating and maintaining documentation

  • Participate in development of user training programs and recommending changes

  • Identifies and escalate problems requiring urgent attention

  • Diagnoses and resolves basic technical hardware and software issues

  • Must be a self-starter with the desire to take initiative.

  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently.

  • Help Desk experience and be respectful at all times.

  • Effective listening skills and verbal communication maintaining proper phone etiquette

  • Asks for and offers others help when needed.

  • Be self-motivated, detail oriented and have a strong work ethic.

  • Maintain safety regulations and requirements while in the factory and warehouse areas.
