Description

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public accounting with at least 2 years of experience, along with a total of 5-7 years of comprehensive finance experience. This role requires not only a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices but also management experience to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Controller in overseeing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including but not limited to general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, support, and training as needed to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.

  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to senior management.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting software and systems to streamline processes and enhance productivity.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit inquiries in a timely manner.

  • Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, and recommend changes or updates to policies and procedures as necessary.

  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned by management.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 or mid-sized accounting firm.

  • 5-7 years of total experience in accounting or finance roles, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.

  • Prior management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful insights.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with ERP systems preferred.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
