SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Technician 2, Academic Advising in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Work in the Academic Advising office as the initial contact for all guests to Advising. Perform receptionist duties in a positive, cheerful, professional, and enthusiastic manner. Assist with crowd management during the months with the highest intake of students.

Provide a warm and welcoming environment to all incoming students and guests of the Academic Advising office. Assist students, both in person and over the phone, in scheduling appointments to see their advisors. Effectively manage and triage students and redirect them to other services as needed. Proactively notify advisors of demand of services. Refer students to campus resources. Access the A-Z index on the college website as well as the Advising website for information to provide students with quick answers to frequently asked questions.

Hours for this position are afternoon/evenings Monday through Thursday from 10:30 AM -- 7:00 PMFriday from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM and may require *Saturday hours 10:00 AM-2:00 PM *twice per year during RUSH. Location for this position is primarily the Redwood campus but may vary depending on the needs of the department. Flexibility with work locations.

  • Assist future and continuing students in person or on the phone with information related to Academic Advising and credit/non-credit admissions and programs of study. User level ability to use student systems and on-line college resources to communicate and respond to inquiries.
  • Manage advisors' schedules by scheduling their appointments with students and being aware of times advisors are out of the office.
  • Organize, maintain reception area, and update information on bulletin boards with current information.
  • Perform clerical duties such as typing, distributing mail, designing flyers, posters, notices, etc.
  • Gather and compile statistics from MySuccess on the number of students served.
  • Other duties as assigned.
