SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Specialist II, Faculty and Site Support, Herriman (PT) in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Herriman campus is an innovative collaboration between Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah. Opened in Fall 2023 in the heart of one of the fastest-growing communities in the state, this dynamic partnership will educate and train students to join the workforce in the flourishing southwest quadrant of the Salt Lake Valley, providing critical support to growing businesses and industries in the area.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus & Site Services, South Region, and works under general supervision to ensure support for faculty at the Herriman Campus. The Specialist II supports faculty with the daily operation of the faculty support center, including but not limited to classroom opening or closing, telephone and email coverage, set-up of classroom technology, distributing supplies, posting cancellation notices, and any other services as needed to support the services at the site.

This position is an afternoon/evening shift at the Herriman Campus with an average of 24-28 hours a week and up to 125 hours a month. Hours for this position will be *Monday -- Thursday: 1:30 pm -- 8:00 pm, and Friday: 9:00 am -- 12:30 pm (variable). * A resume and cover letter are required. *Please indicate on your resume if your work experience is full-time or part-time.

Faculty Support -- Assist faculty members in the following areas, including but not limited to:

- - Provide accurate and consistent information regarding classes, upcoming events, college resources, meetings, questions, concerns, etc. to faculty, students, staff, and other community members. - Support in the security of classrooms and equipment, as required. Handle inquiries both over the phone/email for faculty and staff at the College. - Assist with basic computer troubleshooting with appropriate referrals as needed. - Provide site support to faculty members. Know when to direct faculty to their departments (i.e., request key access & copy codes). Train and assist faculty in the use of copy machines, in-class electronic equipment, and/ or other available site services. - Assist instructors by distributing mail and classroom supplies and keeping the Faculty Support Center organized. - Work with faculty to gain access to classrooms. - Be trained in the available SLCC services to assist prospective, as well as current students, in navigating college experience and resources. - Assist with basic online academic research with appropriate referrals as needed.

 

General Site Support -- Assist faculty members in the following areas, including but not limited to:

  • Provide telephone coverage, including but not limited to accurately disseminating general information about the college and taking messages for faculty and staff.
  • Be aware of institutional policies and procedures, including approved safety and security procedures.
  • Post signs as needed to direct constituents to campus classrooms and events.

*Site Safety & Security *- Assist in the security of facility and equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Opening and locking buildings and/or classrooms as required.
  • Notify Facilities and/or Public Safety when any security concerns arise.
  • Be aware of institutional policies and procedures, including approved safety and security procedures.
  • Participate in campus emergency training and assist in the event of campus emergencies.
  • May provide support for campus events as needed.
