PACKSIZE LLC Senior QE Software/Hardware Automation Engineer in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning. Participate in requirement analysis meetings and design elaborated/detailed test plans. Develop manual test scenarios and test cases. Identify the test automation feasibility for projects by demonstrating proof of concepts (POC). Test the hardware and software requirements independently and perform integration and system testing by binding all the necessary peripheral systems and subsystems---partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures. Identify and document software/hardware defects using a defect tracking system and report defects to software development and hardware teams. Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts. Automation will significantly improve the quality of our products by integrating automated test cases. Implement systematic testing utilities to test our customer's environments with real machines. Once they go live, maintain the services by measuring and monitoring availability, capturing performance and reliability, latency, and overall system health. Responsible for various REST / HTTP services primarily built with C# (on .NET framework) applications. Maintain projects through Jira and TFS ALM. Support the software development team responsible for validating products across various machines. Develop tools that enable self-service configuration changes and improve monitoring to support business-critical customer-facing SaaS. Analyze data to automation requirements to design, code, and document automated test cases within a defined framework that supports the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline (CI/CD). Execute test cases within the Functional or Web Services Automation framework. Create an environment where Test/Behavior-Driven Development behavior is fostered. Reduce GUI testing by implementing REST API-driven API testing framework. Perform FAT and SAT testing. Interpret, evaluate, and document results following written procedures and specifications. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures. Work with computers/computerized equipment. Perform on-site equipment inspections and repairs while maintaining accurate documentation. Physically work on the machines to understand hardware and PLC software implementation and provide necessary metrics to the relevant teams suggesting improvements. Troubleshoot mechanical faults and provide effective diagnostic and repair solutions. Be on a PagerDuty rotation to respond to availability incidents and provide support for service engineers with customer incidents.

Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, Information Systems, or a related field, and five (5) years of related experience in a progressive test automation role. Previous work experience must have included: Five (5) years of work experience with scripting technologies such as C# (.Net), JavaScript, JSON, OOP, Java, Bitbucket, and Node.js; One (1) year of prior work experience with the following: 1) Experience with multiple PLC manufacturers including B&R, Beckhoff, Siemens, and Bergoff; 2) Experience delivering test automation solutions over various platforms, servers, web experience in test frameworks and tools such as JUnit, TestNG, JMeter, Selenium or Cucumber; 3) Experience with test/requirement management tools such as ALM, Jira or TestRail; 4) Experience with operating systems, development tools and approaches; 5) Knowledge of NoSQL databases; 6) Experience in test automation and software testing lifecycles (Maven, Jenkins, or Gradle); 7) Experience with the following types of testing: Functional, Usability, Load, Stress, Integration, Data Validation, Performance, and Regression Testing; and 8) Experience with version control tools including Git and SVN. Required to travel to customer locations, overseeing and providing technical direction and trou leshooting equipment issues. One weekend a month, 6:00 am -- 12:00 am on-call support for active field-related issues. Required to travel domestically and internationally to customer sites on average four times a year. Our customer sites are located all over the globe, including but not limited to, Salt Lake City, Utah, additional U.S. cities, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland and the Scandinavia. The Senior QE Software/Hardware Automation Engineer is part of the escalation team structured to be the top of the escalation process. When the operations team cannot solve an issue it then requires someone from the escalation team to travel and provide onsite assistance and resources.
