THE OPPORTUNITY

The Quality Control Representative conducts quality training of shop and field employees on fabrication and installation of Steel Encounters products. They review construction drawings and specifications to ensure project specific code requirements, construction detail development, and value-engineering requirements are met during fabrication and installation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Inspection and Testing – Conduct thorough inspections and testing of materials, components, and structures to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards. Conduct performance testing and complete reports

  • Document Review - review all required documents, plans, and specifications to understand quality requirements and identify key inspection points throughout the construction process. Review and understand Architect Specifications, scope of work and exclusions outlined in the contract and related industry standards (i.e., ASTM, AAMA, GANA, etc.)

  • Oversight – Monitor quality of materials and work performed by the field and shop employees and ensure that they meet contractual requirements and quality standards. Assist in the training of field employees.

  • Quality Assurance – Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to prevent defects, errors, and non-conformities during construction activities, like fabrication and installation, including monitoring workmanship and adherence to quality standards.

  • Defect Identification – Identify and document defects, deficiencies, or deviations from quality standards during construction activities, and collaborating with project teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

  • Communication and Reporting – Communicate quality-related issues, findings, and recommendations to project stakeholders, including project managers, and preparing accurate and timely reports on quality performance.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a quality control representative or Glazier

  • Minimum 3 years general construction experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Attention to detail, Analytical thinking, & Problem Solving

  • Read and understand blueprints

  • Strong Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, Procore or other construction software knowledge

  • Knowledge of glazing industry products including curtain wall, storefront, metal panel systems, and weatherproofing materials

  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)

  • Strong English writing skills with ability to complete legible, detailed inspection reports

  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings, installation instructions, and architectural documents

  • Travel may be required to project outside of the State of Utah
