Universal Engineering Sciences Project Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and training to junior staff and interns.

  • Business Development and maintain client relationship.

  • Maintain and add new (as needed) professional certifications

  • Represent company in professional societies.

  • Help staff prioritize projects and tasks, and provide guidance on how to complete a project efficiently

  • Communicate and coordinate with other PMs and department managers regarding staffing assignments, workloads, equipment breakdowns, internal delays, etc.

  • Assist with proposal preparation, or prepare the proposal including defining project scope, preparing budget and schedule, as requested by branch or department manager

  • Assist in gathering prior project information and data to assist in proposal preparation

  • Talk with Client to identify their goals, needs, special requirements, timeline, etc.

  • Coordinate with others to finalize proposal in a timely manner

  • Review and approve project setup checklist, including validation of project budget

  • Responsible to review and understand project documents including but not limited to plans, specifications, budget, schedule, project assumptions

  • Attend Pre-Con meeting to discuss inspection schedule, frequency of testing, project specifications, special jurisdictional requirements, and nonconformance procedures

  • Schedule a project kick-off meeting with project team and laboratory manager to establish the conditions for project success

  • Ensure field inspectors are following and representing company safety policies

  • Act as the main point of contact for all project communications including but not limited to budget, schedule, quality assurance, RFI responses and accuracy of technical daily field reports and lab results.

  • Address client’s questions and concerns regarding UES deliverables including but not limited to daily field reports, technical memorandums, lab results and budget

  • Responsible to review daily field reports to ensure all field technician and inspector activities comply with the requirements set by the applicable building code and project plans and specifications

  • Notify clients on all non-conforming work in accordance with client, company, and regulatory agency requirements

  • Responsible to review and approve project invoices

  • Collaborate effectively with assigned project administrators

  • Work directly with department managers/ branch managers on collecting outstanding invoices over 30 days

  • Ensures excellent customer service to clients and partners

  • Takes ownership and resolves issues in a timely manner

  • Effectively and professionally represents the company to internal and external audiences

  • Lead project close-out in a timely manner

  • Ensure noncompliance/nonconformance have been resolved

  • Prepare and distribute final letters upon project completion

  • Ensure final project contract requirements have been met

  • Work with branch manager to identify project profitability

  • Prepare a project profile

Required Qualifications

  • BS from accredited university in Civil engineering, Environmental science, geotechnical engineering, materials science, construction engineering management, code enforcement, or related field.

  • 3+ years experience leading projects in a Project Administration or Project Management or Engineer role

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT/GIT or PE/PG

  • CAPM or PMP

  • ACI, ICC, WAQTC, or equivalent certifications
