DAVID EVANS AND ASSOCIATES, INC. Project Engineer in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

DEA's Salt Lake City, UT office is currently hiring for an experienced Project Engineer to assist in the coordination, design, and relocation of 3rd party utilities on a variety of Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) projects.  This position will require the candidate to utilize their expertise in underground and overhead utilities on large transportation projects, including:water, wastewater, secondary water, communication, fiber, and energy (gas, oil, and power) utilities.A successful candidate will have the ability to work on a team with other engineers from other disciplines for 3D modeling of utility lines and preparing technical specifications and construction drawings. Position Responsibilities: Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment Responsible for planning and design of a wide range of wet and dry utility systems.  Work includes computer-based calculations and plan/profile design, and plan preparation. Collaborate with a team of support professionals, including but not limited to drafters, EITs, surveyors, GIS technicians, and technical editors. Responsibilities also include active management of task-specific scope, schedule and budget. Project management experience is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards. Opportunity to coach and mentor entry level staff Interface with clients and public agencies on an as-needed basis. Assistance in business development efforts (e.g. engagement in professional organizations and visibility efforts), preparing proposals and participating in interviews as needed. Basic Qualifications: BS in Civil Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer in Utah Strong background in OpenRoads Design. Experience with other modeling software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenFlows) is a plus. 4+ years of experience as a utilities design engineer with general civil and/or water/wastewater design experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Technical memorandum and report writing skills. Preferred Qualifications 8 years of experience as a utilities design engineer. Experience working on UDOT projects.
