Description:

The Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LCSW or CMHC) in this position supervises the daily activities of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), and Dispatchers by coordinating ongoing education, monitoring quality control and safety processes, hiring and training of new staff, evaluating performance, and scheduling work shifts. This working supervisor role will be primarily focused on providing support to frontline workers, and will also be paired with a Certified Peer Support Specialist or Certified Crisis Worker to engage in the community as a clinical worker for high priority calls when needed.

Huntsman Mental Health Institute Crisis Services

Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams (MCOT) offer community-based intervention to individuals living in the Salt Lake County. Outreach teams go to homes, schools, shelters, work, or anywhere else in the community where a person is experiencing a crisis. A two person team is in place to support emergency department and justice system diversion. Teams will have cars and equipment to complete most of their work in the field. Teams will be managed and dispatched by an MCOT Dispatcher in real time using a GPS location program to dispatch a team to the location of the person in crisis in order to achieve the needed and best outcome.

The main objectives of mobile crisis services are to provide rapid response, assess the individual, and resolve crisis situations that involve children and adults who are presumed or known to have a behavioral disorder. Additional work includes linking people to needed services to reduce psychiatric hospitalizations, including hospitalizations that follow psychiatric ED admissions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the delivery of patient care and/or customer service, ensuring the timely resolution of concerns.

  • Triage/screening, including explicit screening for suicidality

  • Assessment

  • De-escalation/resolution

  • Peer support

  • Coordination with medical and behavioral health services: and

  • Crisis Response planning and follow-up.

  • Supervises all functions of the department as it relates to staff and operations.

  • Assist with the planning, implementation, measurement, and attainment of the department goal and objectives.

  • Analyzes and determines appropriate staffing while ensuring efficiency and maximizing resources.

  • Supervises the daily operations of the department including interviewing and hiring staff, assigning work, evaluating performance, training, and planning work schedules.

  • Monitors, orders, and maintains stock of department supplies and equipment.

  • Orients and trains staff in policies and procedures.

  • May perform all duties of the department as required.

  • May assist in budget preparation.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Demonstrated organizational, human relations and effective communication skills.

  • Ability to orchestrate multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Three years of experience in a related area, or equivalency, with one of those years in a supervisory capacity.

Licenses Required

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • One of the following

  • Current license to practice as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of Utah.

  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.

  • Current license to practice as a Certified Social Worker in the State of Utah.

  • Current Board Certified Behavioral Analyst Certificate

  • Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah.
