SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Interim Director of Faculty Development in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Inclusive and transformative education is what we strive for at Salt Lake Community College. The Director of Faculty Development & Transformational Educational Initiatives leads SLCC in providing transformative professional development among our highly talented faculty.

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Interim Director of Faculty Development from July 1 -- December 31, 2024.

Under the direction of the Associate Provost of Academic Operations, the Director of Faculty Development and Transformational Educational Initiatives provides leadership, vision, and management to help SLCC close the completion gap through best practices in higher education teaching and learning. As a leader in Academic Affairs, the Director initiates and facilitates programs that positively impact faculty professional development, sense of belonging, and well-being. The successful candidate will:

Promote inclusive and culturally relevant teaching practices and high-impact practices to support the success of our diverse student population;

Develop and facilitate transformative educational initiatives across the college;

Facilitate workshops and learning communities to support faculty in best teaching practices;

Champion and align SLCC values, vision, mission and goals to be a model for inclusive and transformative education;

Develop and apply the necessary leadership and administrative skills to manage budgets, market programming, collaborate with colleagues, supervise staff, and carry out the responsibilities of the Faculty Development office.

This is an at will position.

 

Transformational Educational Experiences

Partner with SLCC academic departments, academic leaders, and other College teams to support current and advance new educational initiatives.

Collaborate with the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Director to support faculty training around inclusive and culturally relevant teaching practices.

Coordinate current faculty professional development programs and events such as Faculty Learning Communities, Technique Talks, New Faculty Orientations, fall Teaching & Learning Symposium, Distinguished Faculty Lecturer, Teaching Excellence Award, and more.

Develop and coordinate ongoing teaching and learning workshops and faculty learning communities in collaboration with SLCC faculty.

Develop and support mentorship opportunities for SLCC faculty in collaboration with academic departments.

Work with Onboarding and Faculty Human Resources to facilitate New Faculty Orientations.

Faculty Development Leadership and Administration

Lead, and supervise, and support the Faculty Development and Transformative Educational Initiatives staff and their specific projects.

Update and maintain the Faculty Development Sharepoint Site and external website.

Oversee the marketing of Faculty Development programming including SLCC marketing channels, weekly newsletters, attending academic department meetings, and regular conversations with faculty.

Serve as a liaison between faculty development and academic departments.

Evaluate faculty development program effectiveness through assessments, feedback surveys, and data analysis to continuously improve faculty development programs and ensure faculty needs are being met.

Engage in personal professional development about current trends in higher education.
