The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting practices.

Required Education and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Must have at least ten years of managerial hands-on accounting experience.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and adherence to confidentiality.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of general ledger, account payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax, and banking knowledge.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must have strong knowledge of accounting software.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the activities of the disbursement process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing, including benefits withholdings and corporate payroll tax compliance.
  • Oversee the activities of accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components, including billings, cash receipt application, quarter and yearly payroll closing, including federal and state reports.
  • Manage the operations of the accounting department to achieve the department's goals and
  • objectives.
  • Manage the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations.
  • Monitor cash flow and report to management regularly.
  • Respond to management as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
  • Establish and maintain a documented system of current accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed and required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Review consultant sheets prepared by the accounting clerk for accurate consultant invoice payments based on a percentage of client payment.
  • Ensure the chart of accounts is accurately maintained and conduct monthly reconciliations.
  • Meet with management on invoicing totals, and work with the accounting team to prepare client invoices, and review client invoices for accuracy before final approval.
  • Track expenses for and produce additional service agreements
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Work with Management to calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
  • Assist with collecting, summarizing, and analyzing financial data for quarterly partner meetings.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual reports, and annual audits.
  • Compile and file quarterly payroll taxes, 401(k) report, and vesting schedule with the outside accountant.
  • Ensure the completion and accuracy of employee year-end W-2 Reporting.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to an external CPA firm.
  • Comply with all state and federal quarterly payroll tax filings.
  • Conform with and a bide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
