Job Summary & Deliverables

The Autism Aide provides educational development support to children with autism in a classroom setting. The Autism Aide assists the treatment team by helping clients learn skills and behaviors to be successful in their home and community environments.

 

Job Highlights

  • Pay: Starting at $16.50/hour
  • Rate increases based upon years of experience

Essential Functions

  • Assists clients with participation in classroom, skills groups, and educational outings according to their abilities and needs 
  • Assists the treatment team in providing academic structure through the application of behavioral techniques and procedures 
  • Implements therapeutic and behavioral interventions to encourage and support self-management, communication, and social skills 
  • Documents client care activities and meets productivity standards
  • Charts the progress of assigned clients through progress notes to ensure the ongoing evaluation of client strengths and opportunities 
  • Provides input and recommendations to the treatment team for the development and implementation of the Treatment Plan and the Behavioral Intervention/Management Plan 
  • Assists in de-escalating clients when necessary or intervening when the behavior of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others 
  • Supports client health by assisting with hygiene responsibilities as required

     

Requirements

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • None (see Preferred Qualifications)

Licenses/Certifications

  • CPR certification
  • Safety Care certification
  • Driving positions require a minimum age of 21 and a current driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous direct care experience with children with autism
