The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah seeks applicants for a tenure-line Assistant Professor position. We welcome diverse applicants with expertise in any area of Neuropharmacology, Neuroimmunology, Neuroendocrinology, or Neurotoxicology, with particular interest in applicants involved in cross-cutting research in mechanistic and/or translational pharmacology and toxicology related to neurological or psychiatric disorders and diseases. Ideally, the applicant’s research will complement existing departmental research expertise in these areas, as well as interdisciplinary research initiatives on the broader campus. Applicants will be expected to develop and sustain an independent, extramurally funded research program, as well as teach in the College of Pharmacy PharmD and College and interdepartmental PhD programs. The University of Utah is ideally suited to support cutting-edge research at the basic and translational levels, with a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere and state-of-the-art healthcare and research facilities.

The College of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is situated in a major academic Health Sciences Campus that is integrated with the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics and Intermountain Healthcare Primary Children’s Hospital, facilitating research involving human cohorts. The University of Utah Health campus also has a variety of research core facilities and unique curated genetic databases to support multi-disciplinary research efforts, as well as interdisciplinary research initiatives including: Diabetes and Metabolism; Immunology, Inflammation, and Infectious Disease; and Genomic Medicine. The College of Pharmacy further has identified Special Interest Research Groups including ones in Drug Development and Screening Technologies, Inflammation and Infectious Diseases, and Neurological and Psychiatric Diseases. The College of Pharmacy is also an integral component of the University of Utah Therapeutic Accelerator (U2TAH) and has faculty who are Program Directors on two NINDS -sponsored training grants in Translational Neuroscience and Neuroimmunology.
